Nurture North with Nicole Cherniawsky

My name is Nicole, and I’m an experienced BC qualified Registered Massage Therapist, total birth nerd, and lifelong student of the human body. I bring a deep respect for the rhythms of pregnancy, postpartum, and all stages of healing — grounded in both clinical training and hands-on experience in hospitals, community health settings, and remote Indigenous communities.

Whether you’re here for therapeutic massage, recovery, or learning, I look forward to walking alongside you. My hope is that your time with me at Nurture North feels like an exhale — a pause to reconnect with yourself, your body, and your care.

Our Offerings

  • Pregnancy massage focuses on alleviating discomfort in the body and relaxing the mind — whether you're experiencing pain, swelling, or just want to relax and feel weightless, these treatments are both deeply therapeutic and holistic.

  • Postpartum care begins with comfort. Whether you’re newly postpartum or well into motherhood, your healing matters. You’re welcome to bring your baby (or babies) into the treatment room, or invite another caregiver to join you or wait nearby — whatever helps you feel most at ease.

  • Cesarean recovery is layered — physically and emotionally. With specialized training in manual scar tissue release, I offer gentle, full-body treatments that prepare your circulatory and nervous systems for deeper work. We begin slowly and respectfully, never pushing or forcing outcomes, but working with your body to support healing across all affected layers.

  • For those preparing for a planned cesarean birth, massage therapy can be an important part of pre-surgical care. These treatments promote healthy circulation, reduce fascial restrictions, and prepare tissues for optimal healing after birth.

  • Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJD) massage is a focused treatment for those experiencing jaw pain, teeth grinding, headaches, or tension with chewing and speaking. The work is slow, intentional, and fascia-focused — often relieving pain and restoring mobility.

  • Myofascial Release is a core part of most treatments at Nurture North. This slow, sustained technique works on the connective tissue (fascia) to improve alignment, release restrictions, and support long-lasting relief. MFR may feel like gentle pulling or lifting of the soft tissue — sometimes even over organs like the uterus or bladder — to restore balance and function in the body.

  • Abdominal massage is offered as a deeply therapeutic and often overlooked form of care — for both pregnant and non-pregnant clients. The belly and pelvic region can hold significant tension that impacts posture, stability, digestion, reproductive health, and breathing.

  • Breast massage at Nurture North integrates lymphatic drainage, myofascial release, Swedish techniques, and joint mobilizations of the ribcage. This treatment supports improved mobility, scar tissue recovery, and full chest health.

  • Every treatment at Nurture North incorporates Swedish massage — a gentle, rhythmic technique that promotes deep relaxation. These flowing strokes increase circulation, hydrate connective tissue, and deliver essential nutrients like magnesium, calcium, and potassium to tired muscle fibers. Swedish massage supports your body’s natural rhythm and invites a state of full-body rest.

  • Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It uses slow, deliberate strokes and strong pressure to address muscle tightness, break up adhesions, and enhance circulation and flexibility. Unlike a gentle relaxation massage, this approach can be a bit uncomfortable at times. Some post-session soreness is common, but many people find the long-term relief well worth it.

  • For an additional fee, postpartum sessions may be arranged at Kysen Regional Hospital in Terrace. These mobile visits are available within the first days after birth, including outside of regular clinic hours. Treatments are provided in your recovery room with the same warmth and professionalism offered at the studio.

Nicole provides care through pregnancy & postpartum
  • I am grateful for the support I have received from Nicole during my fertility journey, which has included five rounds of IUI, one round of IVF, two pregnancies, and two postpartum periods. As a RMT, Nicole combines professionalism with genuine care and understanding. She tailors each session to address both my physical and emotional needs, helping me manage the stress and discomfort that came with my fertility journey. Nicole’s passion for supporting birthing parents is evident, as is seen by her commitment to expanding her knowledge and skill set to ensure that her services are informed and effective. Nicole also educated me about my own body’s unique needs, which has allowed me to access a holistic and wraparound approach to my health. I am confident that Nicole’s work played a pivotal role in both my physical recovery and emotional well-being, and I am forever thankful for the positive impact she has had on my life. I have joked with my husband that I would have another baby just so I can continue to access Nicole as a RMT!

  • Prenatal massages with Nicole were such a treat. Her technique is unparalleled and her compassion is contagious. Each time I had a prenatal massage with Nicole I left dissolved from the physical tension in my body. I would also leave with a sense of calmness and happiness. I highly recommend her to women at any stage in their pregnancy and postpartum journeys. Nicole has so much to offer, she is truly a gem.

  • I was a few months postpartum when I developed unilateral back/hip pain, which made it nearly impossible to do anything, including carrying my baby! A friend recommended Nicole. Nicole responded to email quickly and offered an appointment within days! She was very knowledgeable, understanding and easy to talk to. She was able to identify the problem and helped me tremendously. I felt such relief from my hip pain that I almost cried from happiness! In 2-3 sessions, I felt l was back to my normal self. She created a cozy, spa-like space and experience which also made me feel very comfortable and spoiled! When I hear anyone have any struggles with body pre and post pregnancy, I tell them about Nicole and her magic skills!

  • I went to Nicole for my first prenatal massage at 29 weeks pregnant. I had a few very sore areas and she was able to resolve all of them. Before the massage she showed me some helpful exercises and explained why certain areas are sore. I felt very comfortable at her space, surrounded by her good energy. She works wonders with her hands and I was super relaxed and walked on clouds for the rest of the week.

  • Massages from Nicole are not only transformative & corrective, but they fully embody the magic of healing. Through our sessions I can feel space in my being opening up to be fully embodied. Throughout my pregnancy journey, not only was Nicole a safe space to talk, but she was also an integral body of knowledge. I felt seen and heard in our discussions. Safe to ask questions and brainstorm ideas. I felt fully supported to lead my journey in a way that was right for my body and family. This led us to working with Nicole in the capacity of being our Doula and birth worker. She upheld my needs and boundaries. She showed up fully for me in my hours of need during labour and delivery. She supported my decisions, discussed my options with me, and held me with the upmost safety and respect. Now during my postpartum journey she continues to be a space for knowledge and healing. She helps my body heal, my mind to shift, my spirit to embody, and for my child to be welcomed in this journey alongside me. In the future seeing Nicole for all her services will be a priority for me pre and post natal. She helps me in my journey to feel and show up whole. Being held in health and healing with Nicole is the greatest gift I gave myself throughout my journey into motherhood. ✨1000 out of 1000 recommendation✨
